Ciments du Maroc: Decrease in net profit in H1

By The Economist | 09/28/2024 – 5:24 p.m. | Share

The turnover of Ciments du Maroc for the first half of 2024 stood at 1.99 billion DH, down -7.4% year-on-year. A drop which is explained by the calendar shift of Eid Al Adha compared to the first half of 2023 and the establishment of new production capacities on the national market, according to the group.

The significant drop in energy costs combined with strict control of operating costs makes it possible to post an operating result aligned with that of June 30, 2023 (-0.7%), continues the industrialist. At the end of last June, the latter posted a net profit of 442 million DH, down 2% year-on-year. This net result is affected by an increase in the tax burden, underlines the Group, which continued its approach to reducing carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, through the significant use of alternative fuels but also by promoting the marketing of products with reduced carbon content.
