The Electrify Canada network of electric vehicle charging stations is expanding by introducing new stations in Nova Scotia and strengthening its presence in Quebec.

The company announced the addition of 40 hyper-fast chargers, capable of reaching speeds of 350 kW, located along popular and busy roads, as well as near shopping areas and restaurants. The objective behind this decision is to support and encourage the adoption of electric vehicles across Canada.

And the figures prove it, things are going well in Canada as sales growth continues in the country. The pace is a little slower than anticipated a few years ago, but more and more electric vehicles are being sold, in number and proportion.

The expansion in Quebec includes the addition of five new stations, in Greenfield Park, Mont-Tremblant, , Quebec and Saint-Hyacinthe. The latter join those of Drummondville, Mirabel, Repentigny, Sherbrooke, Saint-Romuald and Trois-Rivières.

Greenfield Park and Laval will welcome the network’s first eight-vehicle charging stations.

Electrify Canada has also established a presence in Nova Scotia with new stations in Amherst and Bedford. These locations are strategically located near the New Brunswick border and close to Halifax to facilitate interprovincial travel.

With this decision, Electrify Canada moves into a seventh province in the country. Steven Guilbeault, the federal Minister of Environment and Climate Change, had this to say regarding the announcement:

“Every year, hundreds of thousands of Canadians save money by switching from paying at the pump to driving electric vehicles — and they are right to expect affordable, reliable and accessible charging options wherever they go. We are pleased to work with Electrify Canada to provide dozens of new hyper-fast charging stations to drivers in Quebec, Nova Scotia and beyond.”

If the news is excellent for Quebec, it is even more so for Nova Scotia, where the network needs a boost to attract more consumers.
