World Cleanup Day 2024 ended in Haute-Garonne and the first results show particularly strong local citizen mobilization to fight against abandoned waste. Thanks to the commitment of many volunteers, this seventh edition promises to be a real success in the region.
In Haute-Garonne, around 275 waste collection points were organized, bringing together nearly 10,000 participants. There were more than 105 points on Toulouse, around twenty on Colomiers, around ten on Balma. This great mobilization made it possible to collect a wide variety of waste: cigarette butts, plastic bottles, cans, packaging and many others, which pollute our natural spaces.
An unprecedented regional mobilization
In comparison, in 2023, Haute-Garonne had already demonstrated strong commitment with the participation of 8,000 volunteers at 243 referenced cleaning points, helping to remove 24 tonnes of waste. This year, the dynamism and motivation of residents show a renewed desire to preserve our environment.
