It’s a unique journey to the heart ofhhistory which is offered to visitors this weekend of September 28 and 29, 2024 at the Château de Breteuil, in Choisel (Yvelines)!

Young and old will be transported through four military periods European: from the time of the American War of Independence to the Second World War.

Immersion in the historical military universe

Costumed extras will offer visitors a total immersion in the historical military world of which certain members of the Breteuil family were a part.

Recruiters for the American War of Independence, grenadiers of the empire, hairy of the First World War, parachute corps and infantry corps Americans but also their canteens, will take over the lawns of the castle and carry out maneuvers or prepare meals.

They will present their equipment, weapons and uniforms to visitors.

Scenes of life in military camps

The only model existing in France, a “Club Mobile” truck from General Motors Cie used by the American Red Cross, will be present in addition to the Jeeps and Dodges

The public will witness these scenes of life in the military camps as well as the daily life of these men who left their mark on history.

Several highlights will punctuate the afternoon: a paradeat 3:30 p.m., around the reflecting pool and on the lawns of the Colombier. This parade, with commentary and anecdotes for visitors, aims to promote and discover the uniforms of yesteryear. It will precede the traditional storytelling session at 4:30 p.m.

Military historical reenactment at the Château de Breteuil, Saturday September 28 and Sunday September 29, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Park opens at 10 a.m. Visits to the castle from 11 a.m. Prices: from 12 to 19 euros. Free for children under 5 years old.
