A little novelty, very discreet, but which can change a lot of things. Since the July 20, 2024the municipal police of Vaires-sur-Marne (Seine-et-Marne) display, on their uniforms, pedestrian cameras. Objective of the town hall: to hold a dissuasive role while protecting the workforce.
“Great technology”
Pedestrian cameras, numbering fourwere inaugurated on July 20, during the passage of the Olympic flame in Seine-et-Marne, at the end of a long procedure allowing the municipal police to sport. “It was a opportunity. THE pedestrian cameras are a nice technology for the safety of our officers. They allow freeze the eventand keep track of the moment in case of CONTESTATION. This can help to re-establish the facts,” explains Edmonde Jardin, the mayor of Vaires-sur-Marne.
For the councilor, the use of these devices can only improve relations between the population and the municipal police.
They complete the municipality’s security system, consisting in particular of video protection cameras.
For their part, the administered, of the confession of the municipal police chiefseem satisfied with this novelty. They even know very well what it is. It must be said that these yellow cameras do not go unnoticed on the blue uniforms.
Functioning
Using these cameras couldn’t be simpler. As proof, the head of the municipal police demonstrates it : he unplugged a camera that was chargingenters his number to unlock it, and attaches it to his jacket. Immediately the computer knows who took the camera. That’s it.
Then it is the agents themselves which will trigger, if necessary, the camera, and this, after announcing it.
Color films, with sound in 4K are not modifiable, and leave automatically on a basis data secure as soon as the camera returns to base. They are there preserved for a month, before being automatically deleted, unless the images are used as part of a procedure. Obviously, not everyone can watch moviesand a viewing history is kept. “Films can only be played during a criminal offense and on requisition of the national police in particular,” underlines the mayor.
If they haven’t had a chance to use them yet, the police still seem satisfied with this noveltyand speak of a “real plus”.
