Seine-et- placed on orange alert with the significant flooding of the Grand Morin river

The heavy rains which have been irrigating Île-de- for several days have caused rivers to overflow. Vigicrues has placed the section of Grand Morin, in Seine-et-, on orange flood alert.

Météo-France kept Seine-et-Marne on orange alert on Friday due to a “significant flood”but has lifted rain flood vigilance for Ain, Savoie, Jura and Haute-Savoie. “A significant flood is underway” on the Grand Morin river in Seine-et-Marne, Vigicrues indicates Friday in its 6 a.m. bulletin.

“The disturbance which passed through the territory between Wednesday and Thursday brought particularly significant accumulations in the Grand Morin basin as well as on the Marne. A new, weaker disturbance is expected” Friday at the end of the day, adds Vigicrues.

“Following these rainsthe Grand Morin therefore experienced a rapid and significant increase during the night from Wednesday to Thursday and continued its increase throughout the day yesterday Thursday. The maximum is now very close at Pommeuse”in the north of Seine-et-Marne, meteorologists indicate. Isère has been downgraded to yellow vigilance “floods”.
