Tony Jouanneau wins the Grand Prix de la Ville de for his responsible innovation in Artistic Crafts

Congratulations to Tony Jouanneau, graduate of ENSCI, for his victory at the Grand Prix de la Ville de 2024! This prestigious award recognizes his innovative and responsible commitment to the Artistic Professions, while highlighting the excellence of his career within ENSCI, a school which continues to train the talents of tomorrow.

Tony Jouanneau, graduate of the Specialized Master® Creation & Contemporary Technology from ENSCI, won the Grand Prix de la Ville de Paris 2024 for his innovative commitment to the artistic professions. This prize rewards his pioneering work combining textile tradition and biodesign for sustainable creation. Tony is a textile finisher who has oriented his practice towards eco-design and biodesign. The jury, made up of renowned figures such as Constance Guisset, Stéphane Ashpool and Chloé Nègre, praised its responsible and innovative approach.

After training at ESAD in Orléans, Tony Jouanneau worked for seven years with the Tzuri Gueta studio before founding Atelier Sumbiosis in 2018, a laboratory where he merges science and textile craftsmanship. His career is marked by prestigious distinctions, notably the Hermès Corporate Foundation in 2018 and the Banque de Foundation in 2022. In 2023, he continued his research at Villa Kujoyama with the ECHIRO project, which combines traditional techniques of dyeing and biochemical advances.

Thanks to the prize money, Tony plans to acquire specific equipment to develop a collection of objects inspired by the ancestral technique of marbling.

The Grand Prix de la Ville de Paris is a coveted distinction, having already honored several ENSCI talents, such as Inga Sempé and Mathieu Lehanneur. It offers the winners, in addition to the prize money of 18,000 euros, exceptional visibility and tailor-made support to support them in their professional journey.
