The environmental NGO Greenpeace believes on Saturday that Michel Barnier’s government “already seems locked into the outdated logic of the old world” in the face of the climate emergency.
“We need radical and ambitious actions to address the climate and social crises, but this government already seems locked into the outdated logic of the old world,” says its general manager, Jean-François Julliard, quoted in a press release.
“It is not with half measures that we will reduce greenhouse gas emissions or protect the most vulnerable,” he adds.

Annie Genevard at Agriculture “foreshadows the worst”
According to Greenpeace, “The choice of Annie Genevard for the Ministry of Agriculture suggests the worst, given her limited experience on these issues and her few positions on the subject as a member of parliament for Les Républicains.”
“With Agnès Pannier-Runacher as Minister of Ecological Transition, Energy, Climate and Risk Prevention, we are promised a nuclear obsession as an ecological compass,” also deplores the NGO.
Agnès Pannier-Runacher’s record worries WWF
The general director of WWF France, Véronique Andrieux, said for her part: “in anticipation of (Agnès Pannier-Runacher’s) vision for the environment and biodiversity.”
In a message sent to Agence France Presse, she praised her “work capacity”, her ” serious “ and his “commitment in the energy field”.
But “The only time we heard her speak on nature-related issues was during her brief stint at the Ministry of Agriculture, where she defended pesticides,” noted Véronique Andrieux.
“Without strong protection of nature, we will not be able to achieve our emission reduction targets,” she added.
Greenpeace also regretted that the government was “almost exclusively composed of members rejected by voters”, while “The Republicans suffered a new historic setback in the legislative elections and Ensemble pour la République suffered a stinging defeat.”
