The sky is darkening for the man who knocked down a municipal police officer in Chesnay-Rocquencourt (Yvelines). Jean T., the 24-year-old driver, will be indicted by this evening, Friday, September 20, 2024. After appearing before the investigating judge, the prosecution intends to request provisional detention from the judge of liberties and detention (JLD).
Several grounds for prosecution have been brought: attempted murder voluntary on personnel in authority (attempted murder: Editor’s note), refusal to comply with endangering the lives of others, driving without a license as a repeat offender, driving while using narcotics and transporting, possessing, offering and transferring narcotics.
He had just forgotten his indicator.
As a reminder, on Wednesday, September 18, the Brigadier William had been violently knocked down after a chase through the streets of this quiet town bordering Versailles. At first, the patrol was just checking the driver who had forgotten to use his indicator twice. He had also bitten into a curb.
Jean T. had driven off at full speed, finding himself in a car reported stolen and without a license. Above all, he was transporting 1 kg of cannabis resin, nearly 400 grams of herbs but also amphetamines. “His mission for the day was clearly to deliver all of this to the Chesnay-Rocquencourt area. Most of the products were packaged in small packages, hidden in the door,” a source told 78actu.
Coming from Meaux in Seine-et-Marne, where he lives in an Airbnb, Jean therefore risked the life of the chief brigadier for drugs worth just over 12,000 euros.
He said he panicked.
According to our information, he explained to investigators that he panicked when the police officer pulled out his weapon. “He contest having wanted to overthrow him. He maintains that he wanted to flee,” specifies our same source.
Still in police custody, this regular driver without a license explained that he had completed his 20 hours of training in driving school.
“He claims that he passed his driving test but failed it. He gives this crazy explanation: on the Internet, he read that he still had the right to drive thanks to the 20 hours. Which is completely absurd.”
Barring any major surprises, Jean T. should be placed in provisional detention. Subsequently, if the qualifications do not change, he will face a assize court that he might find himself.
In the meantime, the brigadier-major went to the forensic medicine. He was prescribed 21 days of incapacity for work for his injuries, plus 8 days for the psychological impact. His attending physician added 15 days to the total.
Her colleague, who witnessed the whole scene, was also arrested. Very shockedshe needs support to cope with what could have ended in tragedy.
