A ton of cannabis resin and four kilos of cocaine were seized in Domazan () on the night of September 15 to 16. Five Vauclusians were arrested in a months-long investigation led by customs and the judicial police. The suspects are still in police custody.

On the night of Sunday 15 to Monday 16 September, a convoy comprising a heavy goods vehicle and eight light vehicles were stopped in Domazan in the Gard, coming from Spain. A tonne of cannabis resin and four kilos of cocaine were found.

Drugs destined for

On board were five Vauclusians who were trying to smuggle a tonne of cannabis and 4 kg of cocaine into Vaucluse. “to supply drug sales outlets in Vaucluse, particularly in , , Avignon and ”, indicates a police Source confirmed by the public prosecutor of Avignon Florence Galtier.

Months of investigation

This vast operation was carried out jointly by the police and customs of Avignon who had been investigating for months “a well-structured network of drug trafficking between Spain and Vaucluse”, indicates a police Source.

Searches in Avignon

The DNRED specifies that the investigators have “carried out three customs house searches which led to additional discoveries of narcotics, nine kg of cannabis resin and four kg of cocaine.”

The Avignon judicial police are in charge of the follow-up to this case. Nearly thirty people were mobilized to carry out this large-scale inter-service operation.
