The teacher breaks her silence and regrets an “unfortunate” and “wrongful” gesture

Filmed hitting a 3-year-old student on September 4, the teacher has broken her silence. Speaking to 2, she regrets an “unfortunate and wrongful” gesture.

The teacher at the Frères-Voisins nursery school, filmed hitting a 3-year-old girl after the start of the school year, broke her silence on Tuesday, September 17, during the 8 p.m. news on France 2.

Asked about the content of the video, the teacher regretted an “unfortunate and wrongful gesture”, she told our colleagues.

“I feel relieved to have finally been able to give my version of events to investigators”

Yesterday, Monday September 16, the latter was summoned to the police station of the 15th arrondissement as part of thepreliminary investigation opened by the prosecutor’s office on September 10 for “violence against a minor under 15 without incapacity”. Placed in police custody, she was released at the end of the day.

“After days of ordeal, I feel relieved to have finally been able to give my version of events to investigators,” added the teacher during her interview.

During her interview, she also returned to the report made by another mother of a student in 2012. In this case, the teacher was accused of having slapped Djankinba Bangoura’s son in May of that year.

“Regarding the accusations of repeat offences, we are bringing up a case from 2012 which did not give rise to a complaint, but to a report. We forget to say that there was an internal investigation and the student in question admitted to having lied,” she emphasises.

A psychiatrist prescribed two months of rest for the student

According to her lawyer, his client had never hit a student before September 4. “If tomorrow, someone brings me proof (of the slap in 2012, Editor’s note), then we will discuss it,” said Laurent Hazan, the teacher’s lawyer.

According to her counsel, on the day the video was taken, the teacher was facing a difficult return to school with overcrowded classes. She had also experienced a bereavement the day before.

Invited on BFMTV a few days after the incident, the student’s mother indicated that her daughter “was really not well at all”.

“She cries all the time. She throws things on the floor, she doesn’t want to play with her brothers. Today, I urgently need a psychologist to follow her,” she added.

According to our colleagues at France 2, the 3-year-old student has still not returned to school. Examined by a psychiatrist, the latter prescribed two months of stoppage for the little girl.
