A suspect in his twenties was charged and imprisoned on Tuesday evening for the stabbing murder of a man in Rennes on September 5, AFP learned from the prosecution.
The victim died around 1:40 a.m. after being stabbed in the heart on Place Rallier du Baty in the historic center of Rennes. According to a police Source, his attackers, whose number was not specified, fled before help arrived.
“Injuries that may result from a fight”
A man was arrested late Sunday afternoon and identified by his DNA, Rennes public prosecutor Frédéric Teillet told AFP, confirming information fromWest France. The accused “admits having fought with the victim and having stabbed him in precise circumstances which remain to be established”adds Frédéric Teillet. The autopsy confirmed death by stab wound and the victim also presented “injuries that may result from a fight.”
In accordance with the requisitions of the Rennes public prosecutor’s office, which opened a judicial investigation for voluntary homicide, the accused was charged with murder by an investigating judge and placed in provisional detention on Tuesday evening, specifies Frédéric Teillet.
