At 32, Dania Toyifia chose to specialize to become an IBODE; (operating room nurse). A nurse since 2016, this year she is starting a new training at the IFSI. It will allow her to assist the surgeon during surgical procedures. She will also have the opportunity to finish the care by practicing, for example, sutures to allow the doctor to concentrate on something else.

A two-year training course

On the program, distance learning courses with the IBODE school of the Nantes University Hospital Center, followed by practice in a simulation room to help them discover their future work environment. They will also continue with internships in Mayotte, but also in mainland .

A hospital with a shortage of IBODE

This new course is a real investment in the medium and long term for the CHM. The establishment currently has 12 nurses in the operating room, whereas there should be 23. In two years, some of these students will come to strengthen the staff of the department.

“These young people that we welcome will have a five-year commitment with us in our block. This will help to combat turnover.”

Aynoudine Salim; Director of Care and General Coordinator of Care at the Center

Constant arrivals and departures that destabilize the operating room team. Intensive training for the eight nurses who follow this two-year training. A small promotion but a great promise for the Mayotte hospital.
