Haute-: Three months of slowdowns on the A20 motorway are on the way

Sanitation works will disrupt traffic on the A20 motorway north of . The aim is to protect drinking water resources.

In Haute-, one construction site follows another. While the road between Bellac and Limoges should be returned to motorists on Friday, September 20, after a month of closure, a three-month construction site will begin on the A20 motorway, north of Limoges, on the same day.

What disruptions?

For road users, the disruption will be significant until December 19: in both directions of traffic, it will only be possible to drive on one lane between interchanges number 26 (Ambazac, Compreignac, Nantiat) and number 28 (Angoulême, Couzeix, Rilhac-Rancon).

The exit ramps of interchange number 27 (Bonnac-la-Côte, Chaptelat, Saint-Priest-Taurion) will be closed, day, night, weekdays and weekends. In the north-south direction, it will reopen on November 18. In the other direction, it will be on December 19.

For which project?

Costing 2.6 million euros, these sanitation works aim to renovate and waterproof the rainwater drainage system, whether on the central reservation or on the sides, and to redirect everything to a retention basin.

The aim is to protect drinking water resources located to the north of the Limoges conurbation. “This work will, for example, prevent a heavy goods vehicle accident from polluting the waterways. We are aware that there will be some inconvenience, but it is in order to protect a precious asset,” says Dominique Birot, head of the road engineering department at the Centre-Ouest Interdepartmental Roads Directorate.

Limoges-Bellac. After a month of work, the national road 147 will reopen on Friday. However, we will still have to wait for finishing work and inspection procedures before taking full advantage of the dual carriageway upgrade carried out at Chamborêt.
