Closed since 2017, the Montauroux post office has reopened its doors

The residents of Montauroux had not had a post office for seven years. The place has reopened its doors and a nine-year agreement has been signed.

The Montauroux (Var) post office reopened its doors at the start of the school year. The news did not go unnoticed in the village since the business had been closed since 2017.

“We’re used to having a desert of all that in small villages, it’s great for Montaroux that the post office is reopening,” rejoices Sébastien, a local resident, on BFM Toulon Var.

Before this reopening, residents had to go to the village grocery store which offered postal services.

“We need it very much”

“We need it a lot, it’s really an emblematic place in the village,” says Marie-José Giudicelli, deputy mayor of Montauroux. “We were very unhappy when she left and we are very happy that she is coming back.”

For Scheherazade, a shopkeeper in the town, the Post Office has a “very important role, even more so today, for receiving parcels and sending registered mail”.

A nine-year agreement

In collaboration with the town hall, the service will offer the purchase of letters, the sending of parcels and a banking service for customers of the Banque Postale. “It brings the village to life, it’s a good thing,” Moktar emphasizes.

A nine-year agreement has been signed. The agency is now open from Tuesday to Saturday from 8:45 a.m. to 1 p.m.
