Deadly weekend on the roads of the Rhône

During the weekend of Friday 6 to Sunday 8 September, several accidents disrupted the roads of the Rhône. In total, four people lost their lives.

It’s a deadly weekend on the roads of the Rhône and the numbers speak for themselves. According to information from BFM Lyon, four people died in various accidents and at least five people were seriously injured.

First, this Friday, September 6, in the evening, a car left the road at the Tour de Salvagny. One person died instantly, a second was transported in absolute emergency.

On Saturday, around 6:30 p.m., a 26-year-old motorcyclist lost his life in Limonest. According to information from BFM Lyon, the incident occurred on the RN6. The driver allegedly wanted to overtake a vehicle before losing control of his two-wheeler. On site, the firefighters tried to resuscitate him, in vain.

Unfortunately, the night will not be any calmer. Just after midnight, a dramatic road accident occurred in Tassin-la-Demi-Lune, on avenue Jean-Bergeron. A bus collided with a car.

Two passengers in the vehicle, both aged 22, died instantly. The other two occupants of the car are in critical condition. In the bus, the driver and a passenger are more lightly injured. An investigation has been opened.

Two more accidents this Sunday

Emergency services also intervened twice on the roads this Sunday, September 8. In the early morning, around 6 a.m., a firefighter was injured in the legs while responding to an accident between four vehicles on the southern urban boulevard of Feyzin. He was securing the intervention zone when a fifth vehicle entered the security perimeter and hit him.

Later on Sunday afternoon, two cars collided in Chabanières, on the Saint-Didier road. A head-on collision left three people injured, two of them seriously, who were transported by Samu and civil security helicopters to hospitals in the region.

The Rhône prefecture tells us that on this date 34 deaths on the roads in the Rhône are to be deplored, against 37 on the same date last year. The prefect delegated to security has asked the police and the gendarmerie to increase road checks from today.
