his body was found

The summer has been particularly deadly for our compatriots abroad. Indeed, several Belgians have lost their lives, in road accidents, in falls or even in drownings. This Wednesday, it was one of our neighbors, a Dutch woman, who was found dead in Greece.

Last Thursday, Brigitte van Gennip, a 65-year-old Dutch woman from Amsterdam, told a friend that she would go for a walk to the Tunnel of Eupalinos, an underground aqueduct from the great Greek era located on Samos.

The day before this visit, she had stayed in a hotel in the town of Pythagoreio and then set off on foot towards the tunnel. She was never seen again. According to her daughter, Brigitte had last been seen near the tunnel by witnesses.

Since Saturday, significant resources had been deployed to try to locate her. Her mobile phone was quickly found but there was no news of the sixty-year-old. We were, because we learned this morning that her body was found lifeless, explains Het Laatste Nieuws.

An investigation will have to determine the circumstances of this tragedy. Everything suggests that she was the victim of a fall, probably while taking the wrong path.
