A stamp will be issued bearing the image of chef Paul Bocuse to commemorate the 100th anniversary of his birth

This summer, La Poste approved the issue of a stamp bearing the image of Paul Bocuse in 2026. This is to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of the starred chef in Collonges-au-Mont-d’Or.

La Poste will issue a stamp bearing the image of the legendary Michelin-starred chef from Lyon, Paul Bocuse, in 2026, Le Progrès revealed on Wednesday, September 4.

The “pope of gastronomy” who died in 2018 in his Auberge du Pont de Collonges will be honored for the centenary of his birth.

His son’s agreement

In mid-July, the philatelic commission of La Poste, responsible for validating proposals on postage stamp subjects, approved this idea.

The Paul Bocuse Foundation has obtained the agreement of Mr. Paul’s son, Jérôme, for the issue of this stamp which will be on sale in two years, report our colleagues from the regional daily.

His name joins the list of Lyon personalities who have already had this honour: the aviator and writer Antoine de Saint-Exupéry and the architect and urban planner Tony Garnier.

Anyone can submit an idea

“La Poste plans the production and issue of future postage stamps a year or two in advance. These issue programs are validated during meetings of a program commission in which the French Federation of Philatelic Associations (FFAP) participates,” the company states on its website.

Anyone can propose a postage stamp subject. To do so, you should send a philatelic issue proposal to Philaposte. This La Poste service deals exclusively with philately and centralizes all proposals.
