A very interesting turnaround for Quebec. Forecast.

In short:

  • Heat wave lasting several days starting in mid-September;

  • Up to 30°C in places possible;

  • Beautiful, very sunny sequence.

Summer heat

The relatively intense heat would find a way to reach Quebec starting in mid-September. The warm air coming from the west could rise up to our latitudes thanks to a ridge. After a cool end to the weekend and a start to the week due to the presence of a trough at altitude, the atmospheric context would favor the rise in mercury which could reach summer values.

Extended sequence

According to the models, this hot spell should last several days. Maximums could exceed the threshold of 25 °C in southern Quebec. In some places, the mercury could even reach 30 °C. It should also be noted that nights would be warm with minimums of 18 °C to 20 °C. They could be uncomfortable if you do not have air conditioning, especially in urban areas.

Used heat

If the mercury reached or exceeded 30°C in southern Quebec, it would not necessarily be a record. However, this intense heat does not systematically occur every year in September. In fact, since 1990, such an event has occurred less than one year out of two in Montreal and Gatineau. In Montreal, there is less than one day at 30°C or more in September on average.
