He escapes again from prison.
Selim Olivier, 35, only son of serial killer Michel Fourniret and Monique Olivier, is indicted in a case of attempted rape. Facts he completely denies.
Twice, the Nice prosecutor’s office had requested his placement in pre-trial detention. But the 30-year-old remains under house arrest under an electronic bracelet. Outside of Nice, this time.
Selim Olivier was arrested there on June 25, boulevard Gorbella, following the report of a 16-year-old girl. The teenager denounces sexual acts suffered in the elevator of her residence. His cries would have put his attacker to flight, found by the police with the help of CCTV cameras.
After the pleading of Me Paul Sollacaro in defense, the judge of freedoms and detention had ordered a house arrest under electronic bracelet (ARSE) – a measure of deprivation of liberty alternative to prison. The prosecution appealed. Hence a debate before the investigating chamber of the Aix-en-Provence Court of Appeal. The hearing was held on Tuesday.--
“The ghost of Fourniret”
According to a judicial source, the investigating chamber ordered “the maintenance of Selim Olivier under house arrest with the same obligations” than those provided for by its judicial review. She did, however, add a notable one: “The ban on showing up in the town of Nice”.
This decision satisfies Me Sollacaro. Especially since the defense had taken the lead. Faced with the concern of his neighborhood, the suspect “moved from Gorbella and left Nice. We even asked the judge to ban it!”.
Selim Olivier nevertheless remains in the region, where he works, at an unknown address.
His lawyer denounces “a media frenzy” around the name of Fourniret. A heavy surname to bear. The son of “the ogre of the Ardennes” (who died in 2021) left him to live incognito on the Côte d’Azur. Himself a father, Selim Olivier was hitherto unknown to justice. “What the Nice prosecutor’s office is pursuing today is the ghost of Michel Fourniretasserts Me Sollacaro.
