Francisco Ferna Abarca Mena appeared Monday at the Montreal courthouse.
He is charged with 10 counts, including having engaged or incited a person with a mental or physical disability to touch him or herself, without his consent
.
Some residents were reportedly victims of his actions. Some alleged facts date back to January 2022.
At the CHSLD, a spokesperson for the establishment explains that the charges relate to a night nurse who committed inappropriate acts

On June 5, the management of the CHSLD Angus received a confidence from a person who lives at the CHSLD, indicating that there were inappropriate acts that could have been committed by a nurse working at night. […] and without delay, the management of the CHSLD Angus filed a complaint with the police, the Complaints Commissioner of the CIUSSS de l’Est-de-l’Île-de-Montréal and the Order of Nurses of Quebec
she adds.
According to data from the Order of Nurses of Quebec (OIIQ), the nurse holds a license issued in 2016 valid until March 2024.

The CHSLD is a private establishment integrated into the Les Appartements du Square Angus seniors’ residence.
The CHSLD has 49 beds spread over two floors, and the residents of the CHSLD come mainly from religious communities, mainly from the community of the Gray Nuns of Montreal, the Misericordia Sisters and the Diocese of Montreal.
In October 2022, the establishment had obtained the renewal of its accreditation by Accreditation Canada with an honorable mention

The establishment is on the list of private CHSLDs which must be approved by the Quebec Ministry of Health in 2024.
