In the history of Belgian women’s basketball over the last 20 years, the duels between Waregem and Namur have always had a special flavor. This Saturday was no exception to this rule. Thus, after a tense start (22-23, 10′), Tess KAPENGA (23 points, 9 rebounds) and his partners were able to bring the Namuroises overwhelmed defensively before returning to the locker room (45-34, 20′). Zoé WADOUX (19 points 3 rebounds) and the visitors tried to recover by returning to the field but it did not work against a tenacious opponent who, as a result, hit the headlines. Nice move too from Ghent! Here again, the promoted player took time to find his feet against Kortrijk (18-17, 10′). But after this 10 minute round of observation, Ada COLLE (14 points, 7 rebounds) and the Gantoises regained some distance from their counterparts (40-35, 20′) even if the road was still long. The second period was the scene of a hell of a mano a mano at the end of which Vibe BEVERNAGE (13 points, 5 rebounds) released his own from long distance, followed by 2 final throwsAda COLLE to take it away.
-Despite the gap between these two in the standings, which was also visible in the first half (40-23, 20′), the derby between Braine and Charleroi was interesting to follow. But relying on a Quay MILLER still untenable (22 points, 13 rebounds), the Castors enforced the hierarchy and disposed of their neighbors, who have nothing to be ashamed of. At the bottom of the table, after being beaten in the first leg (72-66), Lummen rectified the situation in this battle between poorly ranked players. Indeed, at home, Ine VANDERHOYDONKS (20 points, 11 rebounds) and his friends, like the 21-10 in the third act, disposed of Brunehaut by showing self-sacrifice, and thus opened his victory counter, leaving at the same time last place, now occupied by Brunehaut due to an unfavorable point average.
The two matches played yesterday afternoon ended in high scores. Thus, at De Pinte, Donza this time showed his limits. Everything started well for the promoted player against Boom (18-11, 10′) but from the second quarter, Kristina MOORE (19 points, 8 rebounds) and the Phantoms were able to regain their health and ultimately left only crumbs to their opponents of the day to go towards a great success. One-sided match also on the Mechelen side where It’s DEBELJAK (15 points, 3 rebounds) and the Kangoeroes showed their fangs quite quickly (32-6, 10′). Opposite, Liège was, without any real surprise, never able to disturb the reigning champion who, as a result, continued on his merry way to win by 43 lengths. Note that Naomi MBANDU scored 13 points, grabbed 3 rebounds and delivered 1 assist in 18 minutes in this game.
