On Saturday, January 25, an 83-year-old man, suffering from Alzheimer's disease, entrenched himself at his home in Ecraves, near Toul (Meurthe-et-), after a report for domestic violence. Armed with a rifle, the octogenarian opened fire on the police, triggering a large -scale police intervention.

Domestic violence: the alert that triggers the intervention

It all starts with an emergency call from the frenzied wife, signaling domestic violence. Arrived quickly on site, the police find that the man barricaded himself in his home, a weapon in hand. Given the severity of the situation, the raid is immediately called in reinforcement.

Even before the arrival of the specialized unit, the entrenched man opens the fire on the police present several times, including a team from the anti -crime brigade (BAC). In a state of self -defense, the agents reply with shots.

The octogenarian was injured during this exchange. Despite the tension, the police intervene to provide first aid on site, in particular by performing compression points to limit the hemorrhage.
