“A terrible combination of circumstances.”
A terrible accident occurred this Friday evening at Saint-Hilaire-du-Rosier station (Isère). And according to testimonies collected by our colleagues from Dauphiné, it could result “from a terrible combination of circumstances”.
Investigation
This Friday, a woman and her two children took the TER line between Annecy and Valence-ville. When, once she arrived at Saint-Hilaire-du-Rosier station, the mother got off the train with her two large suitcases. According to the story of our colleagues, the controller then ordered a restart but the two children were still in the car. The boy, aged 12, managed to open the door and jump onto the platform to join his mother. Her little sister, aged 6, was not as lucky.
Indeed, as the train restarted, she was seriously injured: “As she was getting out of the carriage, the little girl had part of her ankle torn off by the train which had just started again”writes Le Dauphiné.
-She was airlifted to Grenoble University Hospital. On site, doctors attempted a partial amputation, before resigning themselves to the injuries and amputating him at the knee. In order to determine the exact circumstances of the accident, an investigation was opened.
