Weather in Switzerland: there will be something for everyone

The mild weather will continue this weekend in Switzerland. Saturday promises to be fairly mild on the Plateau and sunny in the Alps, according to MétéoSwiss forecasts. Regions near the Jura will see slightly cloudier skies. In the evening, things are likely to get worse: an increase in cloudiness will affect all regions. It will be followed by precipitation which will extend from the Jura. A few thunderclaps cannot be ruled out.

Temperatures in the plains will vary between 2 and 7 degrees in the morning, and will reach a maximum of 12 degrees. On the wind side, we expect a moderate blow from the southwest, with foehn in the Alpine valleys at the end of the day. This will be followed by gusts during the night. In the mountains, the southwest wind will be particularly strong. The temperature at 2000 meters will drop from 4 degrees during the day to zero degrees in the evening.

The rain-snow limit will gradually lower, going from 1700 to 1000 m on Sunday morning, and sometimes lower, under heavy precipitation. During the day, the sun will return, providing a more pleasant end to the weekend across the country. In the plains, minimum temperatures will be around 4 degrees, with maximums reaching 11 degrees. The southwest wind will be weak to moderate. In the mountains, the wind will blow moderately, while temperatures at 2000 m will rise, going from -3 to 2 degrees.

Note that between Saturday and Sunday morning, peaks above 1700 m could see between 5 and 20 cm of fresh snow fall.

Still according to MeteoSwiss, next week will be rather wet, with a snow limit at 1000 m on Monday and Tuesday. Wednesday and Thursday will remain changeable with a few showers. Friday will be sunny with dry weather.
