The Ministry of Tourism, Crafts and the Social and Solidarity Economy wants to cast a wide net to promote rural tourism. It is in partnership with the Moroccan Society of Tourism Engineering (SMIT) that the ministry is piloting an ambitious project to promote 16 tourist villages, spread across several regions of Morocco, with the aim of promoting rural tourism, creating sustainable jobs and assert its role as a lever for local socio-economic development. This program, which extends until 2026, has an overall budget of 188 million dirhams, allowing the implementation of tourism development projects in the 16 selected villages. Each village will benefit from support for the improvement of existing infrastructures and the creation of new adapted tourist infrastructures, whether in terms of new accommodation, or even cultural and leisure infrastructures. SMIT will supervise the implementation of the projects to ensure their compliance with the objectives and principles of sustainable tourism. In order to guarantee the success of this program, 4 strategic partnerships have been initiated with key national and international players to provide their expertise. These are: Club Med, Marriott, Experiencia and Madaëf. The 16 villages will be divided into four geographical lots, reflecting the diversity of Moroccan landscapes.
Partnerships
-To increase the attractiveness of these villages, a targeted marketing strategy will be implemented via partnerships with tourist operators. These collaborations will transform these villages into authentic and differentiated destinations, capable of meeting the expectations of tourists looking for immersive and exclusive experiences. It is important to note that this ambitious program is part of a broader dynamic of diversification of the tourist offer in rural areas, through the creation of circuits to discover local cuisine; the promotion and creation of cultural festivals and the development of sales platforms for local crafts and local products. It should be noted that rural tourism, also called ecotourism or community tourism, attracts a growing number of travelers in search of authenticity by allowing them to discover nature, gastronomy and local traditions while sharing special moments with locals. Often carried out by families, this type of tourism strengthens the local economy and improves daily life in rural areas. Anchored in the principle of territorial equity of the tourism roadmap, this program aims to position Morocco as a world reference in rural tourism, meeting the expectations of tourism that is increasingly sensitive to eco-responsibility. and in search of innovative experiences.
