Montreal Town Hall: Marissal is considering founding a new political party

Solidarity MP Vincent Marissal is considering founding a new municipal political party if he enters the race for mayor of Montreal. Still thinking about his political future, the elected official does not plan to run under the banner of Projet Montréal.

“There is a lot of heartbreak in my head right now about my future. I have people who are very involved in my personal life too, obviously, my partner, my children, I need a little more time,” he argued Thursday, on the sidelines of the meeting deputies from Québec solidaire serving to prepare for the parliamentary return to the National Assembly.

If he has not yet decided whether or not he is embarking on the adventure to succeed Valérie Plante at the head of the Metropolis, Vincent Marissal excludes joining the ranks of the political party of the current mayor.

“Projet Montréal seems self-sufficient to me,” he said. I have nothing against Projet Montréal, I know them, I like them, I work with them as a deputy, but if by chance I were to enter the race for mayor, it would not be with this vehicle. “.

The member for Rosemont is convinced that the Metropolis needs new leadership, a new party. “Montreal is not doing very well,” he insists. Vincent Marissal is still wondering if he would be the right person to bring together a new movement and if this is indeed where he wants to put his energies in the coming years.

He asks his colleagues for a little more time to nest. But the decision should not take too long, he assures.
