Investigators discovered animals protected by the Washington Convention concerning exotic animals in a resident of Haute-Garonne.

Five meerkats, a white-tufted marmoset, a goldfinch and a Greek tortoise were at a resident's home, reports 20 Minutes. Another search of this man's home took place in December 2023. Investigators then discovered other non-domestic animals in a veranda.
-3,800 euros customs fine
Placed in police custody, he was presented to the Toulouse criminal court, for the purpose of appearing on prior admission of guilt, according to 20 Minutes. He was sentenced to eight months in prison and a customs fine of 3,800 euros.
