QHow hard it was! Basket Landes had to work hard to overcome Brno. The Landes women complicated the match (almost) on their own, losing track of their basketball during a dull second quarter, and struggling to regain control. If they have fulfilled their part of the contract by winning their sixth victory in the competition (76-60), they now have to wait for the result of the meeting between Salamanca and Bourges, a little later this Wednesday evening, to know if they will extend their crazy European adventure a little further with a play-in quarter-final, on February 19 and 26.
Faced with an opponent who had already largely upset them in the first leg (69-65) on December 17, the Landaises first quietly took charge of operations in the start of the match at 100 miles an hour, where the ball navigated almost without downtime from one basket to another (13-7, 6ethen 16-11, 8e). However, like the start of the match, and a tie at 2-2 despite two unfinished interceptions, it was impossible for Basket Landes – too ineffective in shooting, from far or near – to remove the Czech plaster .
Fortunately, Bussiere
So much so that at the end of the first quarter, the lead was only three points (18-15). A gap swallowed up then largely exceeded in four minutes flat, during which Clarince Djaldi-Tabi's partners suffered a scathing 11-1. The Landeses had lost the thread, and only regained it in sequence. Ewodo relaunched his own around the 25e minute, planting two shots, defending at all costs, recovering a defensive rebound and causing Juskaite to foul. Bussière, too, worked to reinject energy into a disjointed game.
However, the Landeses, too undisciplined and always so clumsy, both in the finish and in the penultimate gesture, did not manage to regain control of a match which was nevertheless largely within their reach. At halftime, they were still leading (34-38) without there being much to complain about. And the recovery was hardly more encouraging, while Kostowicz calmly scored three points (37-43, 22e). Until 26e minute of play, when Djekoundade then Bussière, precious this Wednesday, allowed Basket Landes to get back to one point (43-44), then finally return to the lead thanks to the missile of the first (46-44, 27e).
The artillerywoman Lacan
Who served outside Lacan, who added three points, for 4 points ahead of the Landaises (51-47, 28e). Then 6 at the end of the third quarter thanks to Slocum, also behind the three-point line (54-48). It was Brno's turn to find themselves stunned, with ten points scored in 10 minutes, compared to twenty for the Landes. The latter, finally awakened with two new long-distance shots from Lacan (3 in total for the Ruthénoise, top scorer with 18 points on Wednesday) and Slocum (3 also), synonymous with a small mattress of ten units (63-53, 34e), and back to their business in defense, controlled the end of the match, definitively liberated 1'30'' from the end of a missile, one more, from Geiselsöder.
-A meeting, concluded with a score of 76-60, played on alternating current, which Basket Landes will have to avoid this Saturday, while the pace does not weaken at the start of the year. Against Charnay in the championship, Julie Barennes' players will work to confirm that François-Mitterrand has once again become an impregnable fortress. Despite some flaws in the wall, but they can be fixed as long as they tighten the bolts. And don't forget to check them out.
