The outgoing president of the Federation, Issa MBOUP, organized a general meeting in a private place with reinforced security. Moreover, a list of authorized people was kept by his relatives and the representative of the Ministry of Sports.

To this end, tennis players issued a press release this Monday to protest against the elective General Assembly of the Senegalese Tennis Federation.
According to the press release, the president of the ASTU club at Cheikh Anta Diop University was refused access, supposedly because he had given a mandate to his collaborator for the first aborted date for holding the election. . This date having passed, the mandate ditto. Furthermore, when he insisted on accessing the room and voting, the ministry representative criticized him for arriving an hour after the start of the meeting, and supported the refusal of his access to the room.

The latter also denounced the absence of all tennis players: “The tennis professional present in the room was the second contender for the position of president of the FST. Yet nearly 40 years of tennis were gathered outside the building, scorned by the elected candidate when he went out to retrieve an item from his vehicle. The collective did not fail to question him about the situation.”
“Following our requests and our protests, an organizing member came out to say “It’s you we’re waiting for to start the session.” Call to which we all responded by accessing the hotel lobby where we were once again blocked by security (SAGAM), whom we also take as witnesses to the events,” they said.

“The action of the collective of tennis players present and refused access (12 people). We showed up at the room at 10 a.m. to attend the AGM as usual; and to our great surprise, access was filtered. Luckily the outgoing president’s foal candidate, unable to resist the lack of nicotine, went out to pull the fuse; which allowed us to approach it with questions concerning the refusal that was given to us. He claimed to have nothing to do with it and that the damage had already been done, even though the election had not started. We retorted that the harm will only be done if the election continues under the conditions that we contest; and that if, despite our requests, they persist in continuing their crime, we will defend what they have had validated by force. This is where Mr Ndiaye, candidate for the presidency of FST, declares: “You don’t know who you are dealing with: We are MOÏCANS! », added the plaintiffs.

It should also be remembered that tennis will not participate in the 2026 Olympics that Dakar is organizing. Reason: faults in infrastructure and player preparation. According to them, this is explained by the fact that “it is the president of the federation Issa Mboup who has done nothing for tennis even though he has been there since 2000”.
