Incivism endangers Leybar’s railway heritage

The Leybar railway line is the victim of notorious incivility. Supports of the dilapidated infrastructure as well as sections of rails were stolen, leaving behind a weakened infrastructure and an increasingly threatened heritage.

Parts of the rails have been cut away, with clear hacksaw marks still visible. This extraction method suggests a premeditated operation. It is likely that these pieces of metal are sold at a low price on the local market.

If preventive measures are not taken, other sections will be stolen.
