Saint-Étienne: 1
Nantes: 1
Saint-Étienne, with a goal from Augustine Boakye scored in the last minutes, snatched a draw against Nantes which satisfied no one in the fight for maintenance (1-1), Sunday, at the Geoffroy-Guichard stadium, at end of a match of the 18e day of Ligue 1 dominated by the Greens.
Nantes, which shares the points for the third time in a row after hanging Lille (1-1) and Monaco (2-2), remains 15e of the ranking with 17 points, while ASSE is 16e and play-off tied on points with the Canaries, only ahead on goal difference (-7 against -21). Just the two teams can be satisfied with joining Rennes (14e17 pt) to the number of points.
Saint-Étienne surprised at the start
Moses Simon, with his fifth goal of the season, gave the Canaries the advantage at the start of the game by taking advantage of an error from Dennis Appiah to adjust Gautier Larsonneur (0-1, 14e). Shortly before, the latter had saved the Greens in front of Matthis Abline after a hesitation from Mickaël Nadé (7e).
Abline called on Larsonneur again at the 75e minute, again after having taken over Nadé while Jean-Philippe Gbamin, with a header, was dangerous from a corner (90e+ 4).
Nantes cracked at the end of the match
Augustine Boakye, entered the game at 60e minute, equalized with a left shot from 25 meters into the top corner (86e). A more than logical equalizer while the Stéphanois pushed hard to get back to the mark.
-Apart from this goal, the Greens, despite a large possession of the ball (75%) without them doing much with it, were ultimately only very dangerous on two other actions, that of the young player Dylan N'Guessan (16 years old), facing Anthony Lopes, but who saw his ball pass close to the post (48e), and on a shot from Boakye stopped by the Nantes goalkeeper (81e).
Too little for a team playing at home to maintain against a direct competitor.
