Around twenty individuals armed with hunting rifles attacked the Riu Baobab hotel in Pointe Séréne, located around a hundred kilometers south of Dakar, taking more than 12 million CFA francs (around 18,300 euros), reports the Senegalese Press Agency (APS).
According to a source close to the establishment cited by the APS, the criminals stormed this luxury hotel complex in Petite-Côte, inaugurated in 2022 in the Mbour department, during the night from Saturday to Sunday. After taking the money from reception, they tried to flee on a hotel bus.
An exchange of fire broke out at the exit of the establishment between the attackers and the police, forcing the thugs to take refuge in the hotel.
