A grandmother from Fontainebleau was found guilty of incestuous sexual assault on her grandson. The court sentenced the septuagenarian to five years in prison, including one year.
An ordeal lasting several years
A sordid affair hit the headlines in Seine-et-Marne. A grandmother was convicted of sexually assaulting her grandson on several occasions between 2014 and 2018. The events took place in Fontainebleau and in a second home located in the Var.
It was in 2021 that the child, then nine years old, finally dared to break the silence. He confided to his parents that his grandmother had forced him to touch him while he was sleeping. The grandfather, suspected of not having denounced these acts, was acquitted with the benefit of the doubt.
A sentence deemed insufficient
The court sentenced the grandmother to five years in prison, four of which were suspended and one year with an electronic bracelet. She is also banned from staying in Seine-et-Marne and from any contact with the victim for three years. The septuagenarian was registered in the File of perpetrators of sexual or violent offenses (Fijais) and will have to pay damages to the child.
The public prosecutor, considering the sentence too lenient, appealed this decision.
