The city of Kolda is in mourning after a tragic accident that occurred this Friday, January 17, 2025. Around 8 p.m., a tanker truck collided with a Jakarta motorcycle on the axis connecting the city center to the Saré Kémo district, causing the immediate death of the motorcycle driver and his passenger.
According to testimonies, the tragedy was caused by a bad maneuver by the truck driver, who was trying to avoid a cow crossing the road. This maneuver led to a loss of control of the heavy goods vehicle, which collided head-on with the motorcycle traveling in the opposite direction.
Both victims were transported to the Kolda Regional Hospital morgue. As for the truck driver, he was taken to the central police station for the purposes of the ongoing investigation.
This tragedy plunged the population of Kolda into turmoil and dismay.
