After two trips to Sambre-Avesnois, in 2018 and 2021, to sign two successive “pacts” for aid to this territory, the President of the Republic returns there, Thursday, to “take stock […] progress that they have made possible,” the Elysée said this Friday.
It is in this territory, straddling the North and Aisne, which combines economic and social difficulties, that Emmanuel Macron came to announce in November 2018 a “pact” with the State, nicknamed SAT1, named after the territory of Sambre-Avesnois-Thiérache. This amounted to aid amounting to 137 million euros.
Infrastructure, education, services…
Another support plan, “Pacte SAT2”, followed three years later, this time to the tune of 100 million euros, half of which was supported by the State.
-This aid aimed in particular to develop infrastructure, in particular the widening of the RN2, but also education, public services, cultural and health services, such as the financing of the Maubeuge hospital center.
