The Liberian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sara Beysolow Nyanti, reiterated, Friday in Laâyoune, on the occasion of the holding of the third session of the Joint Moroccan-Liberian Cooperation Commission, the constant position of the Republic of Liberia in favor of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Kingdom of Morocco over its entire territory, including the Sahara region.

During a press briefing held following talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad, Nasser Bourita, the head of Liberian diplomacy expressed the support of her country to the autonomy plan presented by the Kingdom of Morocco, which constitutes the only credible and realistic solution for the resolution of this regional dispute.

She further welcomed the efforts of the United Nations as the exclusive framework for achieving a realistic, practical and lasting solution to the dispute over the Sahara.

In this regard, Mr. Bourita thanked Liberia for its constant and firm support for the territorial integrity of Morocco, in particular for its clear position in favor of the Moroccan Sahara which resulted in the opening of a Consulate General of Liberia in Dakhla in 2020 and through its participation, in 2021, in the Ministerial Conference in support of the Autonomy Initiative under the sovereignty of Morocco.

Furthermore, in a joint press release published at the end of the talks between the two ministers, the head of Liberian diplomacy welcomed the enlightened initiative of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, within the framework of the process of African States of the Atlantic, aimed at strengthening cooperation by making the African Atlantic area a geostrategic framework for intra-African cooperation and the promotion of stability and prosperity.

Ms. Nyanti further praised the opportunity offered by the Royal Initiative aimed at facilitating the access of the Sahel States to the Atlantic Ocean, which will contribute to the socio-economic development of the region and ensure stability and prosperity in Africa.

The two ministers reiterated their determination to participate in efforts to resolve conflicts in Africa and welcomed the constant efforts made, in this direction, by the Kingdom of Morocco, under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, and by the Republic of Liberia, under the leadership of His brother, His Excellency President Joseph Nyuma Boakai
