This Friday, HLN reports that at least four cases have been mentioned in Flanders. These are two people from the province of Antwerp, one from East Flanders and one from Limburg.

For its part, the Walloon Agency for Quality Life (Aviq) indicates that it is not aware of such cases of contamination for the moment.

According to the scientific public health institute Sciensano, the hepatitis A virus is mainly transmitted by the fecal-oral route, via contaminated food, and benign in 99% of cases.

Hepatitis A presents with symptoms such as fever, feeling unwell, loss of appetite, diarrhea, nausea, abdominal discomfort or even yellowing of the eyes and skin.

The products concerned are the “Zakje met blauwe bessen” from the Albert Heijn brand, with a minimum durability date of until 04/14/2026. The blueberries are packaged in a 1 kg plastic bag and were marketed between October 2024 and 01/13/2025 inclusive.
