The Unfiltered is fifty years old this year! The 2024 vintage is released on this third Wednesday of January. A public tasting is organized from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Anciens abattoirs in La Chaux-de-Fonds. Thirty-six winegrowers will be present. This tasting is followed by an after party at the same location. However, there will be no demonstration in Neuchâtel on the occasion of this outing. Mireille Bühler, director of Neuchâtel wines and terroir, explained Wednesday in La Matinale that the Old Slaughterhouses allow “to have the festivities that we want. » She also returned to the birth of the typically Neuchâtel beverage in 1975. The 1974 harvest was small and a man was short of wine for his daughter's wedding. “He approached Mr. Godet and said to him: what am I doing, I don’t have any wine, I need help. And so, they shot it at the barrel and it was satisfactory. » The Unfiltered was born.

A wine that is gaining momentum

The production of Unfiltered has grown over the years. Its production now reaches 160,000 liters, or 15% of Chasselas. It is also increasingly sold outside the canton of Neuchâtel. This is also one of the objectives of Neuchâtel wines and terroir. To achieve this, Mireille Bühler has been inviting the German-speaking press for three years during the release of Un Filtré. And it pays off. “We really saw the difference. We talk about it in German-speaking Switzerland, we also talk about it in French-speaking Switzerland, Geneva, Valais and also in the canton of Vaud. » The Neuchâtel specialty is also starting to be exported beyond national borders. “We still deliver some to Japan, Germany and the United States. »
