Apparel, beautiful dresses, a few guitar chords and off we go: “It’s like that all the time with us, there is no time, no specific circumstance to take out a guitar, we do it naturally and it can go away at any time”rejoices Manuel Diaz, winner of The Voice Kids and gypsy.
Presented for the first time at the Théâtre Libre, “Gitans le musical” is a flamboyant and colorful foray into the culture and traditions of this community rarely evoked in musical comedy. Tiago, a young gypsy, finds himself involved in a fight during an outing with his friends to defend Nadia, a gadji, against a gang of thugs. They fall madly in love with each other, a love that will be fraught with pitfalls.
Rehearsals for the show began at the beginning of December. One Evening in Paris takes you behind the scenes of this original creation with a large format report devoted to the rehearsals of this musical which should appeal to a wide audience, well beyond the community.
“Gitans, le musical” is directed by Jeanne Descheaux and is performed at the Théâtre Libre until February 23.
