It is one of the most popular races every year in the Tarn. L’Albi Run Urban will return for a seventh edition. It will be April 18, 2025. With always the same principle, raising funds for help a disabled person to realize his life plan. Registrations are open.
Organized since 2018 by Jérémy Phez, his team of 250 volunteers and more than 150 partners, the Albi Run Urbain has already collected €146,920 in six editions. Last year, the race brought together 3,090 participants, including 300 children, who came to discover unusual places in the episcopal city.
For an engineering school student
The seventh edition will aim to support Gillian, 18 years old, studying at Insa engineering school in Toulouse.
“I have spinal muscular atrophy, a degenerative genetic disease with a somewhat barbaric name, but basically it's simple, all my muscles work less and less well and as a result I haven't walked at all since I was 10, which requires me to move around in an electric wheelchair. To make a long story short, I can perform almost all the movements you do, but with much less force.
“The reason that pushed me to ask for help from Albi Run Urbain is that I need to finance a vehicle that would allow me to become independent in my personal and professional life,” explains the young man.
“In addition to helping me, it would relieve my parents who since I was
small, takes care of everything so that I can enjoy my life as normally as possible,” explains the student.
The different routes
Several courses are possible: 8 km or 12 km of running solo or as a team of 6 “buddies”,
8 km of Nordic walking for fun, 1 disabled sports access, 2 children's courses (500 m for 5 to 7 year olds and 1 km for 8 to 11 year olds). All that remains is to register.
Albi Urban Run, Friday April 18, 2025 Place du Vigan in Albi. Registrations are open here. Those who are absent can also participate by offering a solidarity bib.
The organizers are also looking for many volunteers. More info there.
