They were called “bobers”. They went down the roads at full speed, in the Albatross, which was the pride of an entire city. This bob, handcrafted by the Salle brothers, lasted from 1938 to 1956. A bird is painted on it. Pierre, pilot, and Marius, brakeman, followed in the footsteps of their father, Alphonse. But other names resonated in the bobsleigh world: Peterman, Clément, Cointe, Rapin, Cassinelli, Gravier, Voyron…, then, later, Della Vedova, who started out with the Salle brothers, and Unternarher , Faure-Vincent, Menneron, Meyer, Francou, Simond, Chabas, Faure, Merle…

This year, the Briançonnais Winter Sports Club will celebrate its 100th anniversary. Bobsleigh was one of the club's first disciplines.
