The red alert will be lifted on Monday at 3 p.m. local time (1 p.m. in ) after tropical storm Dikeledi passes through Mayotte. The prefect of the French department of the Indian Ocean made the announcement this Monday morning.

Mayotte is still affected by heavy rains. The weather conditions lead the authorities to “maintain the red alert until 3 p.m.”, declared François-Xavier Bieuville on Mayotte-La 1ère, a channel of the Télévision group.

No victims according to a provisional report

According to a still provisional assessment mentioned by the prefect, this new storm did not cause any deaths. The archipelago is still devastated by the dramatic passage of Cyclone Chido at the end of December. The last official toll from the cyclone which hit the archipelago on December 14, 2024 stood at the end of December at 39 deaths, 4,136 minor injuries and 124 serious injuries.
