A suspect wanted by the police was arrested in Disraeli after a chase which caused a lot of headaches for the authorities, in Chaudière-Appalaches.
It was a van that was reported stolen around 10 a.m., in the MRC des Appalaches, which put the police on the trail of the fugitive, aged in his twenties.
“Quickly, a vast mobilization and search operation involving certain neighboring posts was set in motion,” mentions the Sûreté du Québec in a press release.
The vehicle was located within the hour near Route 112, in the Thetford Mines sector, when it struck a patrol car twice.
A nail mat had to be used to stop the driver who finally left the road near Lessard Street, in Disraeli.
“It was at this time that the police were able to apprehend the suspect, whom we were looking for, because he had left a therapy house,” specifies the police force.
The twenty-year-old was taken back to the hospital as a precaution, although he did not suffer from any serious injuries.
According to the SQ, alcohol or drugs could be involved. Samples were therefore taken for analysis.
The young man could face charges of receiving a vehicle, dangerous driving, fleeing and being unlawfully at liberty.
