(Bowmanville) Ontario Premier Doug Ford wants to present to United States President-elect Donald Trump a vision to supply both countries with energy.

Mr. Ford wants to see the province’s network expand to allow more energy to be sent to the United States.

The premier is touting Ontario’s nuclear energy expertise to build more large and small modular nuclear reactors in partnership with the United States.

Donald Trump threatened to impose a 25% tariff on Canadian goods on his first day in office, January 20, unless Canada strengthens border security, with a focus on fentanyl trafficking and the passage of irregular migrants.

Donald Trump said Tuesday the United States doesn’t need anything from Canada and talked about using “economic force” to annex the country to make it the 51ste American state.

Mr. Ford had already threatened to cut the energy the province sells to four states if the tariffs were implemented, but indicated he did not want to come to that.
