The Pas-de-Calais prefecture has issued an order to prohibit the circulation of heavy goods vehicles weighing more than 7.5 tonnes on the secondary network, due to the expected heavy snowfall.
Snowflakes could fall in abundance in Pas-de-Calais and should complicate travel for motorists. The department, like its northern neighbor, is switching to orange “snow-ice” vigilance this Wednesday afternoon.
As a result, the Pas-de-Calais prefecture has issued an order prohibiting the circulation of heavy goods vehicles weighing more than 7.5 tonnes on the entire secondary road network of the department.
A possible extension depending on the weather
This ban comes into force from 2 p.m. this Wednesday and will end at 12 p.m. this Thursday, January 9.
The vehicles concerned will have to “go to the nearest and most suitable parking area”, explains the prefecture. Heavy goods vehicles carrying passengers or animals will also be able to travel to a suitable area.
“No diversion has been put in place,” adds the prefect, who informs that “these traffic restrictions may be lifted or renewed depending on traffic conditions.”
