Two police officers were brought before a court after being filmed off duty shooting from a balcony in the 19th arrondissement of Paris. One of them was tried and sentenced to 8 months of suspended imprisonment on Saturday, August 31.

A police officer was sentenced to eight months of suspended imprisonment after shooting, off duty, from a balcony of an apartment in the 19th arrondissement of Paris, this Saturday, August 31, BFMTV learned from the Paris prosecutor’s office.

This sentence is combined with a ban on owning or carrying a weapon for 5 years. He was brought before the court on Saturday for immediate appearance on prior admission of guilt for endangering the lives of others and possession of category B and C weapons.

A second police officer soon to be tried

This second police officer was also brought before the court immediately upon prior admission of guilt for possession of a category B weapon and is due to be tried shortly.

The hearing was adjourned until September 16 after a request for an extension. He was placed under judicial supervision with a ban on contact with the other accused, on carrying a weapon, and on going to his place of work.

According to local residents, the sounds of gunfire began on the evening of Thursday, August 29, and continued the following day. When questioned, the police headquarters did not wish to respond to our requests regarding a possible suspension of the police officers on trial.
