Four departments in the north of France will be placed on orange alert for the risk of snow and ice on Wednesday from 2 p.m., Météo-France announced on Tuesday January 7. In detail, the departments concerned are Seine-Maritime, Somme, Pas-de-Calais and Nord.

The risk of snow arises from the progression of “the disturbance that hit the country this Tuesday”, and who “gradually goes back north”. “On contact with colder air to the north, precipitation becomes snowy from Upper to Hauts-de-France”describes the forecaster, who anticipates “snow accumulations of 5 to 10 cm over the entire episode” and that “this precipitation weakens in the middle of the night from Wednesday to Thursday”.
