Petite revolution in Ile-de-France public transport. The announcement was made last September, but it became a reality on January 2. From now on, Seine-et-Marnais users (and all others) only pay 2,50 euros to travel in the Paris region regardless of the means of transport (metro, TER or RER) and the arrival station.
Before January 2, the date of application of this single pricingoccasional travelers who wanted to go to Paris from a station had to pay five euros per trip (four euros if purchasing a book of ten tickets). Île-de-France Mobilities (IDFM), the transport authority in the Ile-de-France region, has decided to divide the ticket amount by two, hence this price of 2.50 euros.
The end of rezoning
On the other hand, the price of metro ticket increases mechanically, since it is now also set at 2.50 euros. As for bus and tram journeys, they cost two euros. Here too, the location and distance traveled do not matter.
The desire of Valérie Pécresse, president of the Île-de-France Region and IDFM, was to put an end to the logic of rezoning in Île-de-France. Thus, residents of the greater Paris suburbs today pay the same price as residents of the city center.
Increase in the Navigo pass
The other good news from the start of the year is l’extension throughout Île-de-France Liberty + pass, until now reserved for travelers from within Paris. The advantages of this new formula? Only the journeys made are invoiced and a 20% discount is operated on tickets (i.e. 1.99 euros instead of 2.50 euros for the metro-train-RER and 1.60 euros compared to two euros for the bus-tram). Note that this pass, accessible at the station or on the IDFM website, will be dematerialized on a smartphone in the spring.
On the other hand, Navigo pass holders are less cheerful. Since 1is January, their subscription increased by 2.40 euros and now costs 88.80 euros. This decision, which aims to cover the growing costs of operating and maintaining the network, has sparked strong reactions among users.
