Farmers are called to elect their union representatives in the chambers of agriculture from January 15 to 31. These elections take place in a particular context as the crisis in agriculture is deep, marked for a year by significant blockages and demonstrations. Government announcements with the grubbing premium and promises on the Ecophyto plan, Mercosur and administrative simplification have not calmed the anger of the agricultural world.
In this context, many expect to see the Rural Coordination, a union close to the extreme right and which multiplies the punch actions, sign historic scores in the chambers of agriculture. “ All the elected representatives of the National Rally were on the Rural Coordination stand at the last livestock fair in Clermont-Ferrand. And this year, I see the Coordination arriving before the FNSEA in several departments », Explains, worried, Olivier, a well-informed farmer.
Opposite, the FNSEA offers union lists with Young Farmers and independent winegrowers. In Gard, outgoing president Magali Saumade will be the head of the list.
The unions marked on the left will leave separately, the Peasant Confederation having refused the alliance at the national level with the Modef. The Conf will rely on two wine growers in our departments, Simon Le Berre in Gard and Paul Reder in Hérault, to try to defend a sector in the midst of a crisis.
Modef also managed to build two lists in our departments. The breeder Frédéric Mazer in Gard and the winegrower Didier Gadea in Hérault will be at the head of the list to defend small farms.
